RoboCommander

Everything it does

For people who run Valetudo. Daily cleaning on every Apple screen. Setup stays in the Valetudo web page.

Map

A live map of your home, drawn on your device.

Live map
Floors, walls, rooms, the charger and the robot at its true size. The map updates as the robot moves.
The robot’s path
The path draws as a swath under the walls. A planned path shows dashed, and an active zone as an outline.
Floor materials
Wood, tile and carpet show as a faint pattern that runs across neighbouring rooms. Carpet gets a fringe. One setting turns the patterns off.
No-go areas and virtual walls
Areas and walls your robot already knows are drawn softly over the map.
Smooth pan and zoom
The map is built to stay smooth while it updates, and to stay within memory at any zoom.

Rooms and zones

Say where to clean. The app sends one request.

Pick rooms
Tap several rooms. Each gets a numbered badge, and the total area shows.
Draw a zone Pro
Drag a zone for a spill. The default zone starts inside the largest room.
Go to a spot Pro
Tap the floor and press Go here to send the robot there. It needs a robot that supports it, and Pro.
Several passes Pro
Repeat a room or zone clean, if your robot allows it.
Dimmed rooms
While a room clean runs, the rooms you skipped dim on the map.
Clear while busy
Rooms, Zone and Go to lock while the robot works, so a tap never changes a run by accident.

Cleaning

The controls you use every day, in one place.

Clean, pause, stop and home
Big buttons at the bottom, with a tap of haptic feedback.
Live card and summary
Time and area while it cleans. A summary when the clean ends.
Mode, suction and water
Vacuum, mop or both, with presets for suction and water. A disabled row says why.
Only what your robot can do
The app reads your robot’s abilities and shows those controls. Nothing is hard-coded to one model.

Dock and care

Keep an eye on the parts that wear out.

Dock actions Pro
Empty the bin, and on a mop dock, wash and dry the mop. A switch turns auto-dry on and off.
Attachments
See the dust bin, water tank and mop cloth at a glance.
Statistics Pro
Time and area of the current clean, in the cleaning options.
Consumables
Check consumables, such as filters and brushes, in the menu.
Alerts
A bell shows the robot’s active events. It only reads them, and never sends a command.
Locate and map changes
Make the robot play its locator sound. Accept or reject a map change the robot proposes.

Connection and safety

Local only, and careful by design.

Find your robot
The app finds robots on your network, or you type an address. HTTP or HTTPS, on any port.
Away from home
The app needs to reach your robot’s address. At home that is your Wi-Fi. Elsewhere, use a VPN or Tailscale that connects your phone to your home network. The app does not set one up.
Sign-in and HTTPS
A robot with a password is supported. The login stays in the iOS Keychain. For a self-signed certificate you choose to trust it, robot by robot.
Honest status
Name, battery, state and last-seen time at the top. When data is stale or the robot is offline, the commands switch off and say so.
Made for everyone at home
Big buttons, plain-language errors, VoiceOver labels for rooms and battery, and a layout that adapts to large text sizes.
No surprises
The app sends no command on launch, resume or reconnect. One tap sends one request, and the button waits while it is pending.
Stop is never locked
Stop, pause and dock stay free in the iPhone and iPad app. The Mac, Watch and TV apps need Pro.
Try the demo
No robot yet? Open the demo to look around.

Every screen

The same robot, wherever you are.

iPhone and iPad
On a tablet, the map and the controls sit side by side. Light and dark appearance included.
Mac Pro
The iPhone and iPad app runs on Apple silicon Macs with the same features.
Apple Watch Pro
Status, plus start, pause, stop, dock and room choice, sent through your iPhone.
Apple TV Pro
Status, the map and the controls on the big screen. It talks straight to your robot.
Several robots Pro
Keep a list of robots. Switch from the name in the header.
iCloud sync Pro
Your robots appear on your other devices through your own iCloud. I cannot read them.

Download RoboCommander on the App Store (opens in a new tab)

This app needs Valetudo.

RoboCommander is a remote for robot vacuums that run Valetudo, the free software that replaces the maker’s cloud. It does not work with a robot that still runs the maker’s own software.

You already run Valetudo

You are in the right place. This is the app you would open instead of the web page.

  • Valetudo runs on your robot, and its web page loads on your network.
  • You want to start, pause and send the robot home without a browser tab.
  • You want rooms, zones and presets one tap away.
  • You want it local: no cloud, no account, no analytics.

See it in action

You have never heard of it

That is fine. Here is the short version.

Most robot vacuums work through the maker’s cloud and app. Some owners install Valetudo on the robot instead. The robot then answers only to the owner’s home network. RoboCommander is a phone remote for those robots.

It cannot control a robot that is not set up that way, and it cannot install Valetudo. Installing takes a supported robot and some patience. If you just want a vacuum that works today, this app is not for you. Your robot’s own app is the better choice.
